About the book
At the end of August 2018, the eccentric and flamboyant professor Von Falckensteyn is busy with one of his erudite lectures at the Eise Eisinga University in Franeker when he is disturbed by a Bulgarian stranger. He must hurry to Bulgaria, because his expertise is required. The professor has built up an international reputation for his ability to trace untraceable documents in archives. The assignment has to do with the murder of the writer Georgi Markov in London in 1978. Markov was murdered with a poisoned umbrella and the unsolved case has since been called the Bulgarian umbrella murder. Bulgarian Prime Minister Angelov finally wants to solve the old case after forty years and uses the professor to do so. Von Falckensteyn, together with Maja Altova from the Bulgarian State Archives, dives into the case with verve and ends up in an international wasp’s nest.
